Ateneo de Davao University stamped its mighty class over Daniel R. Aguinaldo HS slashing out a 67 - 29 victory in the Girl’s Division of the 6th Gaisano South Cup Saturday at the GS Skygym.
Tara Shane Araneta led the charge for Ateneo which appeared erratic in the first two quarters but came out strong in the second half to notch its second win in as many games.
Playing center/forward, Araneta, a five foot-six third year high school student, poured in 15 points on top of ten boards, seven steals and three assists to grab the best player of the game citation.
Ateneo hotshot Trisha Anne Piatos, who was substituted midway of the third canto due to left hand sting but returned in the final period, finished the game with 12 points.
But they are not the only top performer for Ateneo coached by Caloy Salvador who used all his ten present players and managed to score points.
Rizza Mae Andrade had 8 points, Reena Mae Andico drilled 7, Darlene Lallen, Patricia Dominique Gumban and Krystine Timtim scored 6 each, Noelle Kristine Divinagracia canned 4 and Ella Hilda and Estefanie Dayanghirang had 2.
Jamie Marie Chan scored 12 points for DRANHS which dropped to 1 - 3 win loss record in the tournament backed by Unilever, Procter and Gamble and Sunsport.
In College Div. 1 encounter, University of Mindanao Wildcats overwhelmed Davao College of Southern Philippines Orange Mustangs, 79 - 62.
Arnold Adormeo starred for UM victory in as many games drilling in 20 points and added five boards, three steals and three assists.
In College Div. 2, Davao Central College notched its second straight triumph at the expense of AMA Computer College, 95 - 88.
In Mini division, Holy Child School of Davao remained undefeated in six games by besting Ateneo de Davao University, 83 - 81 while University of Immculate Conception tamed Holy Cross of Davao, 103 - 31.
