THE University of Mindanao (UM) Wildcats staged a strong comeback by ripping the Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings, 85-75, in the 6th GS Cup basketball tournament at the Gaisano South Citimall SkyGym Friday night.
Arnold Adormeo sparked the Wildcats with 23 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists. He was named best player of the game for his performance.
Michael Angalan and Erickson Galacgac added 16 and 15, respectively, to help lift the Wildcats notch their debut win in the 2008 season of the cagefest.
The Wildcats missed action in the league for the past two years.
The Kings, meanwhile, suffered their second straight loss in the BAP-SBP sanctioned tournament sponsored by Unilever, Procter and Gamble and Sunsport.
Jumabon Bulac drilled 17 points to lead the Kings while Ivan Lu made 13. In junior division 1, Southern Philippines Polytechnic College Inc. (SPPCI) demolished JMC, 56-50, to keep its uneaten record after three outings. JMC dropped to 0-3. (MLSA/Sunstar Davao)
