RMC bounce back with 87 - 85 victory over JMC


The Rizal Memorial College Bulldogs escaped with a 87 - 85 victory over Jose Maria College to notch their first win in the 6th Gaisano South Cup College Division 1 encounter Friday night at the GS Skygym.


The Bulldogs, who missed miserably at the foul line hitting only 2 out of 8 with less than a minute to go, held their ground in defense to cop their first win.

Ramfe Rodriguez split his free throws with 14 seconds left that gave RMC a 86 - 85 lead and the Bulldogs put up a great defensive stance in the ensuing play to seal the hard-fought victory.

Taking an in bound pass off the time out, Jay-ar De Guzman aggressively drove to the basket but was mobbed by the Bulldogs defense that force the prolific forward to turn the ball over.

Rodriguez top scored for the Bulldogs, who lost to Agro Sailors in their first outing, with 26 points and added five rebounds and three steals.

Kenny Isik had 20 points including a back to back triple that fired up RMC rally midway of the second canto en route to a 43 - 36 half time lead.

RMC also got a good performance from Robert Abao who had a double-double showing of 13 points and 13 boards. He also split his free throws with 3 seconds remaining that settled the final tally.

Samuel Salvador paced the Kings with 13 points. De Guzman had 12 points.

Isik and Sansangan missed all their bonus throws via penalty before Rodriguez finally drilled the last throw of his bonus shots.

In College Div. 2, Holy Child Reds copped their second straight win at the expense of Philippine Women’s College, 67 - 66.

Rex Sinilong led the charge for Holy Child canning18 points on top of eight rebounds, five steals and three assists.

Adan Arevalo and Osmer Chan poured in 16 and 12 points respectively for the PWC’s losing cause.
